Gi ranks foods on the rate at which they break down in the digestive system and their effect on blood glucose levels. Low Gi foods (55% or less) are digested more slowly providing a slower and more sustained energy release and so help you feel fuller for longer.
High Gi foods offer quicker energy release over a short period of time which may encourage snacking or overeating.
