The fruit
Guanabana [Annona muricata] is a member of the Annonceae family, and the kidney shape fruits are picked from a quick-growing ever-green tree. They are also called Soursop and normally darkish green in colour the skin is covered in soft curving short green prickles. In some areas the prickles may be closer together where the skin has not swollen uniformly. When ripe Soursops are soft, and can easily be bruised if kept long, rapidly turning yellow.
Taste
Delicious! The flesh or pulp is white, soft, juicy and fragrant. A faint pleasant perfume is also a very noticeable characteristic of the Soursop.

Its flavour, suggests a combination of strawberry and pineapple with a hint of cinnamon. Also related to Sugar apple, Cherimoya, and Atemoya, but is up to three times large.
Uses
The fruit can be eaten as a dessert fruit. As it is rather fibrous, it is often made into a drink i.e. extract of juice from pulp.
