Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is one of Britain’s biggest causes of blindness and although many people have never heard of it, it now accounts for up to a staggering 50% of blindness and partial sight registrations in the UK1.
Research shows that Lutein (pronounced LOO-teen), which is found in papayas, helps reduce damage to the macular of the eye2. Lutein is most concentrated in the macula and acts as a barrier to harmful UV rays.
As the body is unable to manufacturer its own supply, it is essential we get enough from dietary sources such as papayas.
